In Memory

Charles Edward Schuler father, mentor and man of vision

Welcome to Gwichyaa Zhee, which in the Gwich’in Athabascan language means house on the flats. When we first approached our families about teaching so far away from home, they said, “Go make a difference in the world, follow your dreams.” And so we did. Gwichyaa Zhee is an open letter to my family and a tribute to the inhabitants of the Yukon Flats. Welcome, all who find your way to our doorstep!

  1. Hello! I just came across your blog! Are you still teaching? In which village? We are soon to be moving to Yukon Flats but don’t know which village my husband will be teaching in yet. 🙂 I’m on the hunt for any information I can get about life there!
