Remnants of the Fall

northern exposures

It is 34 F as we prepare to leave for school; the days are shortening quickly now. The whole village is hoping for plentiful snow, but after the strangely cool and wet summer, most of my neighbors fear the winter will be equally odd and without snow. The aspens and birch have shed their colors, and the willows mostly, too, although some hold onto a few shriveled and obstinate leaves.
