Watson Lake is a small Yukon community of about 800, a stone’s throw from British Columbia. We stayed at the lovely Stampeder’s Inn, a simple place of two cabins owned and operated by Swiss-Canadians Peter and Susan. An hour out of Watson Lake we stopped at a pull out to stretch. We were along a bluff overlooking a small lake when we noticed movement in the water below. It was a moose!
Lindsay and I watched him for 10 minutes before we realized that we weren’t looking at the same creature; there were actually two moose. They were wading through the shallow lake, dunking their heads under the water to pull up mouthfuls of lake moss or something growing on the bottom.
