This is the Yukon River. Much of the ice is still thick but its texture is changing. We have had some strong winds of late, something we don’t have too much of, and it has swept the snow atop the ice into interesting patterns. People are still traveling on the river by snow machine although you cannot see any tracks in this photograph. I know there are soft spots and thin ice in places this time of year, so I’m thinking I’ll stay on land.
