From the Eye of the Raven

northern exposures

I took these aerials on my return from Anchorage last weekend. Flying over the Yukon Flats and the White Mountains that lie between here and Fairbanks never fails to challenge my imagination. In the first photograph you see the mighty Yukon from directly above our village. In the second you can see how it has scarred the land over and over. We think of it as being unchanging, but that is not the case; someday it may choose to swallow our village. But I hope not.
